MATHS WEEK

MATHS WEEK

SESSION 2024-25

(17-12-2024 to 19-12-2024)

CLASS-I

Maths Week was organized for the students of class I with an effort to lay a strong foundation of Mathematics among the students. The Mathematics Olympiad was organized on 17th December 2024 to challenge the logical reasoning and creative thinking skills of the young minds.

The students were engaged in an outdoor activity on 18th December 2024 based on the basic concepts done till date. The students will be engaged in a group relay race where they unlocked several challenges to reach the finishing line. The students enthusiastically participated in both the  activities .

CLASS-II

“ Activity is the only road to knowledge”.

Keeping this in view and as a part of the Maths Week in our school, an intra–class field activity was organized for the students of class ll on 18th  December, 2024 fostering the creativity and capabilities of the students in Maths calculation. The students played the Four Corners Operations Game on the ground by using different operations. The students in the groups had to find out the correct operation of the word problem, run to the correct operation symbol , had to do calculations and find out the correct answer for the same .

CLASS-III-V

(OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES)

As part of the exciting Maths Week activities, students from Grades 3 to 5 enthusiastically participated in two interactive games: Math Tic Tac Toe and Math Relay Race, blending fun and learning seamlessly.

In Math Tic Tac Toe, students formed teams and competed to solve mathematical challenges across different concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, decimals, percentage, and logical reasoning. To earn a spot on the grid, teams had to solve a Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) question correctly. This activity encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and strategic decision-making, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts in a lively and engaging environment.

The Math Relay Race combined physical activity with intellectual problem-solving. Teams competed in relay-style races, where each student solved a math question before passing the baton to their teammate. The questions ranged from simple calculations to complex word problems, ensuring all students were actively involved. The relay format not only reinforced mathematical skills but also promoted collaboration, speed, and accuracy under time constraints. Both activities were met with great enthusiasm, with students showcasing their ability to apply mathematical knowledge creatively and competitively. These games not only reinforced their learning but also highlighted the joy of exploring mathematics through innovative approaches.

CLASS-VI-VIII

(Inter house competition)

A quiz of 5 rounds was conducted

Round 1: GENERAL ROUND!

Each house was presented with 3 questions, i.e. a total of 4 sets of questions (arithmetic) were asked from students. Students of each class were meant to answer in this round.

Round 2: Rapid Fire

Each house was given 1 minute to answer as many questions as they could. Only 1 member of the team was allowed to answer the questions.

Round 3: Visual Round  /Who Am I? (Clue-Based Round)

Each team was presented with a picture and this was a buzzer round. The team who pressed the buzzer and answered correctly scored 50 marks and for incorrect answers they got -10 marks.

Round 4: Correct me if i am wrong-

The teams were presented with questions on the screen. This was also a buzzer round. The team which pressed the buzzer first had to answer. Correct answer was 50 marks and an incorrect answer made the team lose 10 marks.

Round 5:  Challenge Round

Each team was asked to pick a difficulty level (easy, medium, hard) for a question, earning points accordingly.

Rules are same as Round-3, Marking scheme is also 50, 30, 20 marks for correct answer and -10 for wrong answer

WINNER

1st – Tagore

2nd- Shankracharya

3rd – Aryabhatta

CLASS-IX QUIZ COMPETITION

In the event, the students were arranged in a team according to their house.A quiz was organised in three rounds.

Round 1 –     Amend It If You Can ( 20 Marks)

The competition kicked off with the first round, aptly named Amend It If You Can. This round demanded precision and adaptability as the participants were presented with incorrect statements.

Two questions were asked from each team of 10 marks each.

Round 2  –   Visual Vortex (30 marks)

The competition then escalated with Round 2, Visual Vortex, a round that tested the participants’ visual perception, memory, and analytical skills. Teams were shown a series of mathematician images, diagrams of triangles to depict the rule of congruence, figures of circles to depict the value of x.

Three questions of 10 marks each were asked from each team.

Round 3   –  Conceptual Quest (20 marks)

Concept based 2 questions (carrying 20 marks each) were asked from each team.

In the event, the students were arranged in a team according to their house.A quiz was organised in three rounds.

CLASS-XI QUIZ COMPETITION

Round 1   –  Conceptual Quest (10 marks)

Concept based 5 questions (carrying 2 marks each) were asked from each team.

 Round 2  –   Visual Vortex (10 marks)

The graph of one function  (Trigonometric Functions, Greatest Integer Function) was shown  to one  student of the team ,he/she had  enacted  the graphical shape  and his/her  team members identified  the function.

Round 3 –     Amend it if you can

Concept with some errors was shown to the  students, they identified and corrected the error. The activities proved to be great fun and learning experiences for the students of classes I to V. Quiz competition in higher classes enhanced the talent of students along with highlighting practical usage of topics they study.

SESSION 2023-24

(18-12-2023 to 22-12-2023)

CLASS  I   FUN WITH MATHEMATICS

Maths Week was organized for the students of class I to enhance their confidence to solve mathematical problems. The students were engaged in an outdoor ladder game on 20th December 2023 based on the topic Ordinal Numbers and Months of the year. The students jumped on the correct ladder after following the teacher’s instruction. The students enthusiastically participated in the  activity .

CLASS II
