SESSION 2019-2020

HINDI RECITATION COMPETITION

Poem Recitation is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the latent talents of the young ones. Rhymes can prove to be an instrumental stepping stone for young children to develop their verbal skills and boost their confidence. Learning through books is not the only medium of learning but fun filled activities and competitions, enhance the learning process. These kinds of competitions help the child to develop confidence, improve vocabulary and also help the students to get rid of stage fear. Both Scholastic and Co-scholastic activities play an equal role in the all round development of the child.

Keeping this in mind, a Hindi Recitation Competition for Pre-Primary and Pre-School students was organized on 30-10-19 and 31-10-19. Beauty is the realm of poetry, children enjoy the beauty of expression, thoughts, feeling, rhyme, rhythm and music of words. Taking all these facts into consideration the children got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence.

The children came up with different poems on a variety of themes and recited them with great fervor and enthusiasm. The event witnessed mass participation by students who recited a plethora of Hindi poems with much zeal. A variety of topics were chosen ranging from “ Beti Bachao” to “ Chacha Nehru”, Samay Ka Pahiya” to “ Mere Papa”, “Pedh”,”Koshish karne walo”  etc. Tiny tots recited different poems with actions and lot of confidence. A wise message was actually being conveyed to the audience through their poems. The eye catching props were an icing on the cake. Students were judged on parameters like confidence, content, voice modulation, the props used and on the overall presentation.

Certificates were awarded to all the winners after the competition. Kids were further encouraged to hone their literary skills and come forward to exhibit them. Overall, the competition was highly appreciated and applauded for the performance of the participants.

SESSION 2018-2019

CLAY MOULDING COMPETITION

Clay moulding is one of the ways to develop fine motor skills in children. It not only caters to the needs of pre-writing skills but also smoothens wrist and finger muscles preparing them for formal writing. A clay moulding competition was held on 25-02-19 for Pre-School kids. The whole class participated in this competition. It was a joy to watch each one of them creating their own colorful models. Gradually children develop creative skills, aesthetic skills, social skills and cognitive skills too by doing things independently. This enhances their eye-hand coordination, color coordination ability and problem solving skills.

The children prepared different models where their inherent talents were out bounded. Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risk, making mistakes and having fun. Young minds can think new and big. Children were given play-doh, as with it the task becomes very easy, exciting and also long lasting. It is non-toxic and absolutely safe to use. This competition was a perfect platform for the creative minds of the children to meet their colorful desires and fantasy needs. They made their own shapes, flowers, snake, caterpillars, swan etc and displayed them with pride.

SHOW AND TELL COMPETITION

The Show and Tell Competition was held for Pre-School on  22-02-19 in the School premises. It was a unique platform for our little ones to develop and showcase their skills as communicators – whether it is speaking or presenting, with clarity & confidence. Our students tapped into their love for their favorite objects, and brought along props such as newspaper, dolls, globes etc. that they found fascinating and used it in an innovative way to describe it with a lot of confidence, facial expression and voice modulation. The event inspired them to articulate their ideas and gave them the courage to overcome stage fear to take centre-stage. Students were very excited and participated whole-heartedly in this competition. The competition helped the students to gain confidence and improve their vocabulary and skills of public speaking. The competition gave a chance for children to think ‘out of the box’ a little and invite their teachers and classmates to come into their own little world for a minute or two. Further social skills are gained with show and tell, for both the speaker and the audience.

ENGLISH CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION

English calligraphy competition for Pre-School and Pre-Primary was held on 11.02.19 (Pre-Primary) and 18.02.19 (Pre-School) respectively in order to improve presentation skills and to inculcate habit of good handwriting among the students. Calligraphy at School is very important.

Basically calligraphy means writing beautifully. The aim of the competition was to encourage the students to write neatly and present the content in proper manner. Such competitions turn out to be very meaningful for the students since calligraphy not only improves writing skills but also teaches students about their unique structure and the beauty of the language. The whole class participated in this competition as now they know how to write the letters from A to Z. Children were given small print letters to write in English copy as it has four lines pattern and they had to write with Hb pencil only. The main objective of this activity was to motivate children to write neatly in good handwriting, to complete the work in the given time and to make children aware of correct formation of letter with curves. It benefits students for the rest of their lives. Calligraphy is a cultural essence and must be handed down from generation to generation.

The judges congratulated the winners and gave away the certificates to the best three students. Thus, these type of competitions are very important in the modern era of Information Technology with most children neglecting their handwriting skills in favour of keyboard proficiency.
